Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery in India

A cleft lip may be just a small notch in the lip. It may also be a complete split in the lip that goes all the way to the base of the nose.
A cleft palate can be on one or both sides of the roof of the mouth. It may go the full length of the palate.A cleft lip happens if the tissue that makes up the lip does not join completely before birth. This causes an opening in the upper lip. The opening can be a small slit or a large opening that goes through the lip into the nose. It can be on one or both sides of the lip or, rarely, in the middle of the lip.

Cleft palate is a congenital deformity that causes a multitude of problems and represents a special challenge to the medical community. Special care is needed for patients with cleft palate. Speech production, feeding, maxillofacial growth, and dentition are just a few important developmental stages that may be affected.Children with a cleft lip also can have a cleft palate. The roof of the mouth is called the "palate." With a cleft palate, the tissue that makes up the roof of the mouth does not join correctly. Babies may have both the front and back parts of the palate open, or they may have only one part open.

Causes a Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate

In most cases, the cause of cleft lip and cleft palate is unknown. These conditions cannot be prevented. Most scientists believe clefts are due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. There appears to be a greater chance of clefting in a newborn if a sibling, parent, or relative has had the problem.Clefting results when there is not enough tissue in the mouth or lip area, and the tissue that is available does not join together properly.

Another potential cause may be related to a medication a mother may have taken during her pregnancy. Some drugs may cause cleft lip and alcleft pate. Among them: anti-seizure/anticonvulsant drugs, acne drugs containing Accutane, and methotrexate, a drug commonly used for treating cancer, arthritis, and psoriasis. Cleft lip and cleft palate may also occur as a result of exposure to viruses or chemicals while the fetus is developing in the womb.In other situations, cleft lip and cleft palate may be part of another medical condition.

Cosmetic Dentistry - Veneers at Affordable Rates

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface before placement. You will need to discuss the best choice of veneer material for you with your dentist.

Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately "bonds" the material to the tooth to restore or improve person's smile.

For What Conditions Is Dental Bonding Considered?
Dental bonding is an option that can be considered:
  • To repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to fill cavities)
  • To repair chipped or cracked teeth
  • To improve the appearance of discolored teeth
  • To close spaces between teeth
  • To make teeth look longer
  • To change the shape of teeth
  • As a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings
  • To protect a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed when gums recede

Gum Surgery - A Beautiful New Smile And Improved Periodontal Health

http://www.cosmodentists.com/general-dentistry-gum-surgery.htmlIf you have been told you have periodontal (gum) disease, you're not alone. Many adults world over currently have some form of the disease. Periodontal diseases range from simple gum inflammation to serious diseases that result in major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. In the worst cases, teeth are lost. Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, if left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. Periodontal disease can affect one tooth or many teeth.

Our mouths are full of bacteria. These bacteria, along with mucus and other particles, constantly form a sticky, colourless "plaque" on teeth. Brushing and flossing help get rid of plaque. Plaque that is not removed can harden and form "tartar" that brushing doesn't clean. Only a professional cleaning by a dentist or dental hygienist can remove tartar. Other factors include smoking, hormonal changes in girls/women, diabetes, certain medications, genetic susceptibility and illness like cancer and their treatments.

Root Canal Treatment - An Effective Means of Saving Infected Teeth

Root canal treatment, also called root canal therapy, is a procedure used to treat
problems of the inside of the tooth, or the dental pulp. It is a way to save teeth that
might otherwise have to be pulled.

The need for root canal treatment can occur as the result of:
- A deep cavity
- Repeated dental procedures to the same tooth

This treatment is often indicated when the patient experiences:

- Dull pain in the tooth or area,
- Swelling that becomes increasingly uncomfortable,
- A throbbing pain,
- A small pimple or blister that doesn't go away over time

The infection can be treated in two ways. Sometimes the tooth is removed completely by the dentist and sometimes the root canal system of the tooth is removed. The latter is called root canal treatment .
During treatment, the diseased pulp is removed and the pulp chamber and root canals of the tooth are cleaned and sealed.
The root canals of a tooth are the parts of the pulp cavity which are inside the roots,
and in a healthy tooth contain the vital (live) pulp tissues. The pulp is made up of
mostly nerves and blood vessels. The nerves inside the tooth are responsible for
transmitting feelings of pain and temperature inside the tooth. Root canals have
different shapes in each tooth. They can also vary between different people and
races, and they also can narrow as you get older.

A permanent crown or filling is usually needed after the root canal is filled. A crown is then made by a technician that fits the drilled tooth perfectly, using the relevant information gotten from the dentist. But until the permanent crown is made, a temporary one is fitted onto the tooth.

Here are some facts to note:

1. Your lips and gums will remain numb after the surgery until the effects of the anesthetic subside.
2. You may have to use a painkiller to reduce throbbing pain which you may experience after the surgery. This pain can last for up to 2 days.
3. The permanent crown may need to be repaired after some time. They can come loose after months of use.
4. In severe cases of tooth decay or infection, extraction of the tooth is a far better option. Going through the pains involved in root canal treatments would definitely not be worth it if that was the case.

Cost of root canal treatment in India is less than other countries. Cosmozone is one of the top dental clinic in Greater Noida. Dr Pavan patil is well experienced dentist in India, at Greater Noida. We offer rootcanal treatment at affordable rate.

Lingual braces are fixed braces to the back of the teeth making them invisible to others. So that, these type of braces are a cosmetic alternative to those who do not wish the braces to be visible.

Methods of Treatment

The treatment time may vary from six months to three years depending up on the difficulty and type of problem.

First step is to identify either the braces are suitable for the patient. After the detailed analysis of the dentist, decides what type of braces can be used. Some dentist suggest retainers after the treatment, in order to avoid the teeth moving back to the previous position.
